Patrícia Jerónimo debates obstacles to free movement of workers in Europe

Patrícia Jerónimo was a guest speaker at the seminar of the MoveS (Freedom of Movement and Social Security Coordination) project, entitled “Free movement of workers in Portugal: Obstacles and challenges brought by the Covid-19 pandemic”. The seminar took place at the NOVA School of Law, in Lisbon, on 29 March 2022. It was organised by MoveS’ Portuguese national experts Francisco Pereira Coutinho and Emellin de Oliveira.

Speaking in a panel on obstacles to the free movement of workers, Patrícia Jerónimo gave a presentation on the access to study grants, starting by pointing out the causal link between this access and freedom of movement, as it is established by EU law, to then give an overview of the different types of financial public support to higher education in Europe and focus on the Portuguese case – i.e. legal framework, types of public support, eligibility, portability of grants, and measures adopted to address the COVID-19 pandemic.
