Ana Rita Simões Ribeiro is awarded the UMinho Prize for Initiation in Scientific Research

The research project developed by the Law student Ana Rita Simões Ribeiro, in the context of the competition for the UMinho Prize for Initiation in Scientific Research, was one of the projects awarded by the jury in the session held on 30 April 2021, with the presence of the Portuguese Minister for Science, Technology and Higher Education, Manuel Heitor.

Under the supervision of Patrícia Jerónimo, Ana Rita Simões Ribeiro developed a research project entitled “The principle of equality in the ‘multicultural jurisprudence’ of Portuguese courts”. The project mapped the way Portuguese courts are interpreting and applying the principle of equality to cases involving ethnic, religious or linguistic minorities, on the basis of the inventory of “multicultural jurisprudence” conducted by the team of the project InclusiveCourts.
