ICON.S 2025 debate equality, climate emergency, and democracy in the digital era

Patrícia Jerónimo was a speaker in this year’s edition of the International Society of Public Law (ICON.S) annual conference, which was held at the University of Brasilia between 27 and 30 July 2025, under the title At the Crossroads of Public Law: Equality, Climate Emergency, and Democracy in the Digital Era. Patrícia Jerónimo’s paper was entitled “Social exclusion and ethno-racial vulnerability in the case law of Portuguese courts: Balancing equality, non-discrimination, and the right to be different”. It was given as part of a panel coordinated by Lorena Ossio Bustillos (Max Planck Institute for Social Law and Social Policy) with the title Social Protection and Vulnerability in the Mirror of Court Decisions: The Construction and Challenges for an Ecological Social State. Besides Patrícia Jerónimo and Lorena Ossio Bustillos, the panel further included Ingo Sarlet (PUC Rio Grande do Sul) and Karl-Peter Sommermann (German University of Administrative Sciences Speyer), as speakers, and Maria Valeria Berros (National University of the Littoral), as discussant.
