20th Anniversary of the Human Rights Master of the University of Minho<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The twentieth anniversary of the Human Rights Master of the University of Minho was celebrated on 10 December 2024 with an international conference on human rights.<\/p>

The programme included a keynote speech on the fundamental rights case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), by Nuno Pi\u00e7arra, Judge at the CJEU; ten thematic panels on the various research topics in which the Human Rights Master has conducted outstanding research (international migration, cultural diversity, the rights of persons with disabilities, access to justice, AI, environment, health and bioethics, gender equality, armed conflicts, democracy and good governance), with presentations by faculty and researchers from the University of Minho and other universities in Portugal and abroad, Human Rights Master\u2019s alumni, judges and members of civil society organisations; and concluded with a round-table on the future of teaching and researching in human rights, with the participation of the present and former directors of studies of the Human Rights Master.<\/p>

Patr\u00edcia Jer\u00f3nimo, que presidiu \u00e0 Comiss\u00e3o Organizadora da confer\u00eancia, interveio no painel sobre acesso ao Direito e aos tribunais com uma comunica\u00e7\u00e3o intitulada \u201cAssist\u00eancia lingu\u00edstica e acesso \u00e0 justi\u00e7a em Portugal\u201d. Manuela Ivone Cunha interveio no painel sobre diversidade cultural e religiosa com uma comunica\u00e7\u00e3o intitulada \u201cRacismo, anti-racismo, anti-anti-racismo: Como distorcer um debate antes de iniciar a conversa\u201d, A. Sofia Pinto Oliveira interveio no painel sobre migra\u00e7\u00f5es internacionais com uma comunica\u00e7\u00e3o intitulada \u201cRevisitando os Pactos Globais seis anos depois da sua ado\u00e7\u00e3o\u201d e Nicole Friedrich apresentou, em coautoria com Charize Hortmann uma comunica\u00e7\u00e3o intitulada \u201cRacismo ambiental: Um desafio multin\u00edvel \u00e0 prote\u00e7\u00e3o dos direitos humanos\u201d, no painel sobre ambiente e direitos humanos.<\/p>
